In 1996, the Founder of what is now Kava King Products visited the Island of Tonga. What he found was a groovy little drink that the islanders made called kava. It was a muddy brown liquid that tasted very bitter and had a gritty texture. He wasn't impressed until a few minutes afterward, when his mouth went numb, and he experienced a most pleasant feeling of calm. The worries of an unsuccessful business trip seemed to wash away with the outgoing tide. The first product out of the R&D labs of Kava King was a traditional kava which needed to be filtered, but with a natural banana-vanilla flavor added to soften the punch of this earthy elixir. As we perfected the art of mixing batches, staying with the traditional method of steeping in water and filtering the ground root, we knew there must be a way to improve on this method. In 1998, we developed a Patented Kava Micronization System©. and added to our product line instant kava in 3 flavors- Plain, Naturally Flavored and Cocoa. These instant kavas eliminated the mess, and reduced preparation time! In 1999 we introduced Vitamin C, Banana-Vanilla and Natural Berry as 3 new Instant Flavors. Convenient Single Serve Packets in a variety of the flavors Currently, we have Plain, Natural Berry, Cocoa, Banana-Vanilla, Vitamin C and Naturally Flavored kava drink mixes. We have single serving packets which contain 8 grams or one tablespoon of these drink mixes available in Plain, Banana-Vanilla, Cocoa, and Vitamin C.
